Stained Glass Windows

The stained glass windows of St. Andrews Lutheran Church were designed by Robert "Bob" Quade.  Bob was a charter member of St. Andrews beginning in 1971 until his death in 2000.  Bob was St. Andrew's artist in residence all those years.

Here is a brief description of the Sancturary Windows Bob designed.

The Easter Window

The Easter window tells of Jesus' death and resurection.  Calvary's crosses are marked with blood, but the banner announces that Christ is risen.  Luke 24:1-8

The Means of Grace Window

The Means of Grace window displays the Bible; the font, water, and dove of the Spirit of Baptism; and the bread, (inscribed with the Greek Chi and Rho for Christ), the cup and grapes of the Lord's Supper.  All that God does for us becomes personal in the Word and Sacraments.  St. Andrew's shield touches the message that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  John 14:6

The Trinity Window

The Trinity window says that the one true God is also three distinct Persons. The creating hand of the Father is open in blessing. Jesus, God's Son, is the sinless Lamb of God who takes away the world's sin. The dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit who is our Counselor and Comforter. We worship this triune God.  Matthew 28:16-20

The Christmas Window

The Christmas window depicts the manger of Jesus and the star of Bethlehem.  Again, the Greek Chi and Rho designate that this baby is the Christ, the Messiah. A crown and scepter represent His eternal kingship, and Greek alpha and omega proclaim Him the Beginning and the End.  Revelation 22:12-13
